Joy Mangano

That’s the way Joy Mangano, a famous american inventor and enterpreneur, says about herself:  “I’m an inventor. When I’m designing a product, everything in my mind is about, how is it going to make your life simpler? I guess that’s just how I look at things.”

She was a single mother of three when she had an idea for making the housework easier, a super-absorbent cotton mop that would be self wringing. She spoke with anyone who would listen to show that this mop did exactly what she promised. She used all her savings, asking moneys to her family and friends. But at the end, promoting in first person the mop at QVC channel, she achieved success. From there she never stopped.

James Dyson and the first bagless vacuum cleaner

As you can read in his website in 1978 Jason was frustrated by his vacuum cleaner’s diminishing performance. When he opened it he discovered that its bag was clogging with dust, cousing suction to drop. He decided to use the principle of the industrial cyclone tower of his factory in a vacuum cleaner. In this way the bag would become superfluous.

Five years and 5127 prototypes later he had invented the first bagless vacuum cleaner of the world.

It was first sold in Japan. Today Dyson’s products are sold in 65 countries and his company has over 1000 engineers worldwide.

Many patent applications are made each year. Unfortunately, once considered patentable, only part of the inventions will be exploited. The remaining patents will probably remain in a drawer without producing anything and without contributing to the improvement of people’s lives.

In fact, many still believe that once a patent has been obtained, it will guarantee the owner a secure income. Unfortunately, this belief is far from reality. If you do not have the opportunity to use the patent for your business, you will need to sell your patent or give it in usufruct.

To find potentially interested people, however, you must show your invention on websites that advertises patents for sale, often at a high price. Innovingbiz instead allows you to sell your patent with a free publication (also for unpatented ideas). Register for free and publish quickly your idea.
